Biography

BIOGRAPHY

I am a printmaker-artist who has lived in Edinburgh, Scotland since coming here as a child in 1966. I was born in Kenya where my family had settled in the early 1900’s.

I joined Edinburgh Printmakers in 1981, the summer after I graduated from Edinburgh College of Art where I had completed the Drawing & Painting BA Honours course. In 1990 I joined the Enterprise Allowance Scheme which enabled me at the end of the year to become an independent, professional printmaker. Since then I have exhibited in Craft fairs, small gallery shops and Open exhibitions across Scotland.

I am mainly an etcher on metal plate but have explored collagraph as an interesting alternative. My subject matter includes: landscape, cityscapes, still-lives and flower/plant studies. I respond to light and shadow, to texture and pattern. I like finding beauty in ordinary things.
