Doreen Boogert

Biography

I am an artist printmaker, who has drawn and painted for most of my life. I also attended evening classes at Edinburgh College of Art, as well as many other courses and summer schools.

A couple of tutors I had during summer schools introduced me to printmaking. I have done courses on Etching, Screenprinting and Linocut. Monotypes have always been a great love and have been my preferred choice over the last few years.

I have visited many galleries in my lifetime and have found most painters have used printmaking at sometime as a practice. I am particularly drawn to Spanish and French Printmakers around the 60/70s. Of course Picasso, then Edouard Pignon, Tapies and Antoni Clave. British printmakers of around the same time also left a big impression on me. Piper, Gilles, Maxwell and Blackadder to name but a few. When I get a chance to visit a gallery I always hope there is some Printmaking to be seen!
