Edinburgh Printmakers are excited to be working with our artist in residence, writer-performer-artist gobscure. Collaborating with our studio team over the coming months gobscure will be exploring printmaking as a form of protest and performance. Working with different printmaking techniques and formats, exploring our building inside and out and engaging our communities, this residency will challenge and disrupt.
"as disruptor-in-residence we’re looking forward to playful-poetic-political creative-resistances. in this printmaking residency we'll work on putting prints in folks hands - perhaps as posters, propaganda, zines or street-art. we want to rewrite futures, there’s always more than one narrative."
gobscure is a self-taught performer, writer, artist, sound-artist and believer in creative resistances. They work nationally, internationally and virtually and are associate artists with Disability Arts Online and the Museum of Homelessness (both are lived experience). Solo exhibitions internationally including with Alma Zevi Venice in Venice & Athens. Supported by Graeae's beyond talent development scheme, Future's Venture fund & MGC Futures bursary 2021. Under commission to the Auxiliary Teesside for sonic arts weekend. Currently touring provoked to madness by the brutality of wealth supported by BOOST : the Third Angel Mentoring Scheme in association with Sheffield Theatres.
"An amazingly light touch with very serious and important topics, giving your audience space to experience your work and concerns in such an intimate way. I find your work relevant, poetic and so original."
