Made at Castle Mills: Members Show 2020 is a brand-new showcase of work created by 40 of our Print Studio members.
Our Viewing Rooms are part of Edinburgh Printmaker’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. We are supporting artists by offering a platform to present their work while giving audiences the chance to purchase original prints.
The Members Show 2020 features a diverse range of works, from Tess Baxter’s hauntingly atmospheric This Moment Brief to DADA FROST’s strikingly abstract and untitled work in bubblegum pinks and neon citrus shades.
All of the works on sale are original print editions and some are listed as variable editions with small variations in colour and tone.
With our gallery spaces closed by COVID 19, and no opportunity for our members to showcase their work onsite this year, this new Viewing Room offers a vital opportunity to generate income from sales of their prints. There’s never been a more important time to support artists and their work – and whether you’re an established collector or buying your first print we hope you’ll enjoy exploring the works we’ve chosen.
You can buy these works with the help of Own Art, spreading your payments over 10 months interest free (see the Own Art section on the website for more information).
The Viewing Room has been made possible through the support of the National Heritage Lottery’s Emergency Fund to EP and the support of the William Syson Foundation. We’re grateful for their support.
UPDATE 13 January 2021
Due to changes in lockdown restrictions Click and Collect is suspended until further notice. Click and Collect orders may still be placed but will not be available for collection until after the current restrictions have been lifted. We are still dispatching orders by mail but deliveries may take a little longer than normal as many courier networks are experiencing Covid-related delays.

KELLY STEWART, FORTH CROSSING, 2019
£295
In response to the new Queensferry crossing completed in 2017 I have featured all 3 bridges in a view which is familiar by many as the view while on the Forth Rail Bridge, approaching North Queensferry. This print marks the third in a series of screenprints I've made of each of the three bridges, the first was in 2003, the second in 2004.
This screenprint is made up of about 8 hand drawn layers that have been overlaid using opaque and transparent inks. -

Christine Sloman, Premonition, 2019
£75
Premonition is a pocket style artist book. It is made from heavy weight tracing paper, and the inserts are a mixture of plate lithography, monotype, gold leaf and dried lichen.
The inspiration behind this book was twofold; a found photograph of a Russian child, and a quote by Anna Akhmatova - "I have long had this premonition of a bright day and a deserted house."
The images can be arranged in any order - the past is open to interpretation. -

Alison Grant, For You, 2020
£650
For You is a unique print individually commissioned, a very powerful and personal gift.
You will be sent instructions to record, in writing and voice , a message of your thoughts to whoever you feel is important to you. You will retain the voice recording while your written work, which is completely illegible to you or anyone else, will be returned to the artist and used to create a unique print of your written thoughts. The artist suggests allowing the recipient of the print to listen to the voice recording only once and then deleting it, retaining only the illegible written traces and the memory of your words in the form of the print. The unique print can be commissioned for in the colours of your choice to compliment your words. -
